Agreement and eligibility

These terms are an agreement between you and Todd Hendricks, the operator of Wingman, based in Illinois, USA. “Wingman,” “we,” “us” and “our” refer to the service and its operator. Contact todd@hendricks.cc with questions.

The request form and wingfam confirmation show a notice linking to these terms. By selecting the action identified in that notice, you agree to these terms and confirm that you are at least 18 and legally able to enter this agreement. If you do not agree, do not submit or reopen a request. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is processed.

Wingman is for adults 18 and older. Supply accurate information about yourself, including your age, and only post information or images you are entitled to share. Do not impersonate another person. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your browser session; do not give another person access to it.

What Wingman provides

Wingman helps people find nearby company, post plans and mutually agree on a meetup. It currently offers these features without an account or service fee. A request, invitation, acceptance, wingmatch or wingfam is not a reservation, endorsement, identity check or promise that anyone will attend.

Live visitor counts estimate recent browser activity, not verified individual people or guaranteed availability. Nearby viewer counts exclude active requesters and can use approximate IP-based location. Separate devices, blocked storage, delayed updates and automated activity can affect accuracy.

Meetup points must pass mapped location checks intended to exclude residential, private and unsuitable areas. Choose an accessible public venue; map classification does not verify opening hours, permission to enter or safety. Incomplete map data or provider failures can prevent a location from being selected.

Purpose and legal classification

Wingman is designed and presented as a way for adults to find platonic companions for social outings and activities. It is not offered as a service to arrange dates, romantic relationships or marriage. Wingman’s website descriptions and operator-controlled marketing present the service as a way to find company for social outings and activities; they do not offer or promise dates, romantic matchmaking or matrimonial services. On that basis, the operator’s position is that Wingman falls outside the definition of an “Internet dating service” in Section 5 of the Illinois Internet Dating, Internet Child Care, Internet Senior Care, and Internet Home Care Safety Act (815 ILCS 518/5) (opens in a new tab). Any personal relationships users independently choose to pursue are their own.

This describes the service’s intended purpose and the operator’s interpretation of the definition. It does not override any law that applies to Wingman as actually operated or limit any mandatory user rights.

Other users decide what to share and whether to meet. Venue information, locations, distances and map results can be inaccurate or outdated. Check the place, hours, route, age restrictions and any costs with the venue yourself. Third-party services and venues have their own terms; Wingman does not operate them.

Live requests depend on successful check-ins and normally expire 90 seconds after the last renewal. Browser, network or service interruptions can change what you see. Expiry is separate from storage deletion, as explained in the retention and backups section. Keep your own copy of an agreed plan if you need it, while respecting the other person’s privacy.

Meeting people safely

You choose whom to meet. We do not independently verify users’ identity, age, photos, statements or intentions. There is no guarantee that a profile is accurate or that a person is safe.

  • Use a busy public place. Tell someone you trust where you are going and when you expect to return.
  • Arrange your own transport. Do not give a stranger your home address or agree to be picked up at home.
  • Keep financial details, workplace information and other sensitive identifiers out of your request. Do not send money to someone you meet through the service.
  • Stop communicating if someone pressures you for personal information, money, photos or an activity you do not want. Leave a meeting if you feel uncomfortable.
  • A match or shared phone number is not consent to physical contact, sexual activity, continued contact or disclosure of private information. Respect a refusal and any change of mind.

Wingman is not an emergency or monitored safety service. In an emergency, contact local emergency services. Reports by email are not monitored continuously.

Acceptable use

Platonic matching only

Wingman’s matching features are for finding platonic companions for social outings and activities. Do not use requests, profile text or invitations to solicit a date, romantic partner or sexual encounter. This restriction does not govern relationships people independently develop outside the service.

Use the service lawfully and respectfully. Do not:

  • Harass, stalk, threaten, exploit, discriminate unlawfully against, defraud or impersonate anyone, or use Wingman to facilitate violence or other crimes.
  • Use Wingman to arrange, promote, facilitate or participate in meetups for illegal activities, including buying, selling, distributing or using illegal drugs.
  • Post drug-use or drug-dealing solicitations, drug-related language or drug-associated emoji in text fields, even where a substance may be legal locally.
  • Post sexual or intimate imagery, sexual content involving minors, nonconsensual imagery including synthetic images, someone else’s private information without authority, or content that infringes another person’s rights.
  • Use the service if you are under 18, seek to meet minors through it, or misrepresent your age.
  • Send spam, advertise scams, solicit money deceptively, or collect, scrape, sell or republish people’s profiles, photos, location or contact details.
  • Bypass session controls, photo-access restrictions or rate limits; probe others’ sessions; interfere with the service; distribute malware; or use automated access that creates excessive load or violates others’ privacy.

We may restrict access or remove content when reasonably necessary to address violations, safety concerns, legal obligations or service abuse. We may also suspend features or the service. These terms do not promise that every post is reviewed or every violation will be detected.

Your content, our site and privacy

You retain your rights in the information and images you submit. You grant the operator a nonexclusive, royalty-free permission to host, copy, resize, transmit and display that content, and to let hosting providers do so, solely to run, secure and support Wingman and provide the sharing you request. This is not a license to sell your personal information or use your photo in advertising.

That permission lasts as needed for those purposes, including the retention and backup periods explained in the Privacy Policy and any legally required preservation. Removing a request cannot undo copies another person has already received. Only share content you have the right to submit and consent to make visible in the applicable feature.

The service’s design, branding and code belong to their respective owners. You may use the site as provided; these terms do not give you ownership of its intellectual property or permission to imply an endorsement.

Visitor-initiated photo removal

Any visitor can remove a published request photo without an account, an open request, uploader approval or prior operator review. Open the three-dot “Photo options” menu on a request thumbnail or photo, then press the red X beside “This photo violates someone’s rights, copyright, or laws.” Pressing that button submits the removal immediately; it is not a report waiting for moderation. If the action fails, the menu displays an error and you can retry.

After a successful removal, Wingman detaches that image from the request and prevents the photo and its thumbnail versions from being served. The request itself stays live. The removing browser updates immediately, and other connected browsers remove visible copies as they receive the updated state or removal status. The originator’s browser also clears the locally saved profile photo associated with that removed image and its saved references when it receives the removal. A newer replacement photo is not cleared merely because an older photo was removed.

We intentionally prioritize prompt protection against potentially unauthorized or unlawful image sharing over uninterrupted display of an optional profile picture. We do not require a visitor to prove ownership, identify themselves or maintain a live request before using this tool. Mistaken or abusive removals are possible, and removal is not a legal finding or an admission by the uploader. Use it in good faith; do not knowingly make false claims, target users maliciously, or automate abusive removals.

The tool provides no automatic undo or assurance that a photo will remain displayed. Do not repost content that violates someone’s rights. Contact todd@hendricks.cc about mistaken removals, repeated abuse or further assistance. Clearing browser copies requires that the updated app receive the removal; offline copies, screenshots, downloads and provider backups cannot all be erased immediately. See photo-removal privacy details.

This immediate tool supplements the reporting procedures below. It does not replace formal notices, operator review of other concerns, or applicable legal obligations, and it does not automatically find separately uploaded copies.

Report a concern or request content removal

For a request photo that is currently visible, use the public photo-removal process above for immediate removal through the site. You do not have to email the operator or wait for a response to use that control. Email remains available if the control fails, the content is no longer visible, or you need to report another concern.

You do not need an account or an active request to report harassment, a minor’s profile, an unauthorized photo, privacy misuse, copyright infringement or other unlawful content. Email todd@hendricks.cc with the subject “Wingman content report.” Include a link or enough identifying details to locate the content, what is wrong, when you saw it and how we can contact you. Avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.

Intimate images shared without consent

To request removal of an intimate image depicting you, including a digitally created or altered image, email todd@hendricks.cc with the subject “Wingman intimate image removal.” You or an authorized representative can submit the request. Include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature, such as your typed full name; an authorized representative should identify their authority to act.
  • The image URL or other information reasonably sufficient to identify and locate it on Wingman.
  • A brief good-faith statement that the image was published without the depicted individual’s consent, with any information helpful to that determination.
  • An email address or other contact information so we can respond.

Do not attach or resend the intimate image. Where the TAKE IT DOWN Act applies, it requires removal within 48 hours of a valid request and reasonable efforts to identify and remove known identical copies. The operator reviews these requests and is responsible for acting within applicable legal deadlines. We may contact you if details needed to locate the content or process the request are missing. This reporting process is handled by the operator; it is not an automated removal tool.

For copyright concerns, identify the protected work, the allegedly infringing content and your authority to act for the rights holder. Do not submit knowingly false reports. We retain report correspondence as described in the Privacy Policy.

Availability and warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without express or implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and noninfringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, accurate third-party information, preservation of a plan or successful or safe matches.

We may change, discontinue or limit features for operational, security or legal reasons. Nothing in these terms reduces a warranty, consumer remedy, security duty or other obligation that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.

Responsibility and limits of liability

You decide whether, where and how to meet someone and remain responsible for your own conduct. You understand that meeting unfamiliar people involves risks, including misrepresentation, unwanted contact, loss or injury. This acknowledgment does not excuse unlawful conduct by the operator or waive rights that cannot legally be waived.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary or punitive damages, or lost profits, arising from the service or this agreement. Subject to the exceptions below, the operator’s total liability for claims arising from the service or these terms will not exceed the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid the operator for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These exclusions and limits do not apply to fraud, willful or wanton misconduct, gross negligence, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. They do not limit mandatory privacy, consumer-protection or other statutory rights. Some jurisdictions do not allow particular exclusions or limits, so those provisions apply only where lawful.

Illinois law, changes and other terms

Illinois law governs this agreement, without its conflict-of-law rules, except that mandatory protections of the law applicable where you live continue to apply. Subject to those protections and applicable jurisdiction requirements, disputes may be brought in the state or federal courts in Illinois, and you and the operator consent to their jurisdiction. These terms do not require arbitration or waive a right to bring a claim that applicable law protects.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent lawful. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver. These terms describe the agreement for using Wingman; separate third-party services remain governed by their own terms.

We will post revised terms here with an updated date. For material changes, we will provide a site notice or other appropriate notice and obtain renewed agreement where required. Changes do not retroactively alter an existing dispute. If you do not accept revised terms, stop submitting requests and using the affected service. Provisions that by their nature must continue, including lawful liability limits and dispute provisions, survive the end of use.
